The Department of Energy's (DOE) Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE) held their Second Annual Technology Commercialization Showcase in Washington, DC on August 6 - 7^th. Over 85 VCs, angels, private equity firms participated along with representatives from DOE National Laboratory Tech Transfer Offices in the 2-day conference organized by the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy. NVCA worked closely with DOE on this event and supported it by hosting the lunch and reception. Special thanks to Latham & Watkins for sponsoring the very well attended reception.

EERE has made great strides toward becoming more market-based in their approach to commercialization and deserves great credit for holding conferences like this where attendees have the opportunity to see presentations on specific technologies. The projects presented were prescreened for market potential and other factors and in each case provided detailed explanations of the technology and the licensing opportunities.
